Linda had always been proud of her son, Michael. He was smart, ambitious, and had a bright future ahead of him. So when Michael announced that he was planning to marry Jessica, Linda was taken aback.

“Mom, Jessica and I have decided to get married. The wedding is in two months,” Michael said one evening over dinner.

Linda’s heart sank. She had never been fond of Jessica. To her, Jessica seemed immature and not nearly good enough for her son. Linda had envisioned a different kind of partner for Michael—someone who would support his ambitions and fit seamlessly into their family dynamic.

“Michael, are you sure about this?” Linda asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

“Yes, Mom. I love her, and I want to spend the rest of my life with her,” Michael replied confidently.

Linda knew she had to act fast. She came up with a plan to distract Michael from the wedding. The next day, she approached him with an idea.

“Michael, how about we go car shopping tomorrow? You’ve always wanted a new car, and I think it’s time we get you one,” Linda suggested.

Michael hesitated. “Mom, I don’t know if that’s a good idea right now. We have a lot of wedding expenses.”

“Think about it, Michael. A new car would be a great investment for your future. You deserve it,” Linda insisted.

Reluctantly, Michael agreed to go car shopping with his mother. They spent the entire day visiting dealerships and test-driving cars. Linda hoped that the excitement of getting a new car would make Michael reconsider his decision to marry Jessica.
